Pritam picks IIFA for 'Love Aaj Kal'

MUMBAI: Composer Pritam Chakraborty picked up an IIFA for the Saif Ali Khan - Deepika Padukone starrer Love Aaj Kal's music. A R Rahman's Dilli 6 was also nominated in the same category, but lost out.

"I was nominated for the last three years, but never won," Pritam said. "Awards are something that don't come to me so easily - so whenever they do, I feel really good," he told the media.

Love Aaj Kal had seven tracks in all, and some which rose the charts were 'We Twist' by Neeraj Shridhar, 'Aahun Aahun Aahun' by Master Saleem, Neeraj Shridhar and Suzanne D'Mello and 'Aaj Din Chadheya' by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Reactions from A R Rahman fans on the web are already simmering.

"No offense to Pritam or his fans, but this is pretty laughable. LAK might be melodious, but nowhere near does it have the musical prowess of Dilli 6," a post read.

Another fan went on to say, "It is ridiculous to say that LAK had better music than D6. it is such a  blunder by IIFA. It seems after giving ARR three in a row they just wanted  someone else to win this time. Anyways, in fact, it is loss of IIFA's credibility."

Meawhile, among singers, Shaan picked up the best male singer trophy for 3 Idiots' track Behti Hawa. Sufi singer Kavita Seth got Best Playback Singer - female award for Ek Tara (Wake Up Sid).

Aamir Khan starrer 3 idiots won 16 awards including  Best Song Recording  (Bishwadeep Chatterjee and Sachin K Sanghvi), Best Sound Re-Recording (Anup Dev) and Best Background Score (Sanjay Wandrekar,Atul Raninga and Shantanu Moitra)

Putting behind all the yesteryear veterans, Swanand Kirkire too picked up the best lyricist award for 3 Idiots
