Prince to grab life time achievement at BET awards 2010

MUMBAI: American pop music icon Prince will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award this month at the 10th annual Black Entertainment Television Awards.

The 52-year-old singer, musician, songwriter, composer and producer will be felicitated at the BET Awards in Los Angeles on June 27, according to reports.

"Prince is dynamic. Prince is genius. Prince is music," the BET television network president of programming- music and specials Stephen G. Hill said in a statement.

Born in Minneapolis, the artist released hundreds of songs and boosts of long list of accolades to his credit, including the Grammy Awards and an Oscar (for Purple Rain) as well as induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Grabbing the BET lifetime achievement this month, Prince will join the list of honourees such as James Brown, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross and Al Green.
