Percept to revive Metalfest in 2010

MUMBAI: Percept D'Mark plans to revive its music festival property Metalfest in the coming year. Launched in 2007, Metalfest was put on hold due to the financial slowdown and the fact that the festival got lesser audiences than expected in its inaugural year.

Percept D'Mark COO Manuj Agarwal says, "The problem with Metalfest was in the terms of the audience. Rock and metal are very sponsored genres in India. The audience which goes behind rock is much younger, they are also limited in terms of financial capacity and you cannot have a total ticket model -  we want to promote properties which are 30 per cent sponsorship and 70 percent ticketed - right now its reverse."

The Goa based Sunburn festival, which was also started the same year, got recognized as a well known name in electronic music festival. "We are revising Metalfest - it will be more of a festival - you'll have rock, blues in addition to heavy metal," he added.

Get geared for a revamped Metalfest in '10.
