Neetu Chandra loves the music of Thilagar's kuthu song

MUMBAI: Neetu Chandra loves to jump at an opportunity to drape a half-sari and dance to a Tamil 'kuthu' number. When she was offered one such song in upcoming Tamil film 'Thilagar', she was more than happy to do it.

"I'm a big fan of Tamil culture and music. I enjoy doing their 'kuthu' dance. I've always wanted to do it whenever I've worked in Tamil films. When this song was offered to me and I was told it was a 'kuthu' number, I instantly agreed to do it," Neetu.

"It's a song with hundreds of dancers. It has a very grand setup. I really loved the music and the way the song has been choreographed. I didn't mind doing it because there's no rule that an actress can't do a song. Big stars are doing it, why not me," she said.Neetu, who was last seen 2013 in Tamil gangster film 'Aadhi Bhagavan', hasn't come across anything "concrete" to star in yet.

"I was offered several films after 'Aadhi Bhagavan', but I wanted to do something exactly opposite to my role in it or something close to my role in the film. I didn't want to do anything in between because nothing exciting was coming up," she said.

While Neetu is expected to sign two new projects in Tamil, she's keeping herself extremely busy with her play 'Umrao Jaan'.

"Theatre is keeping me busy. I'm performing on Sunday in Prithvi Theatre (in Mumbai). I have four shows in October. I'm also planning to take my play to Chennai," Neetu said.

She said that every time she goes on stage to play Umrao, she "explores" herself.

"I explore myself with theatre whenever I get on stage. I might be playing the same role again, but I'm playing it with a different set of thoughts. I have learnt and earned something new every single time I've gone on stage," she said.
