MUMBAI: Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Manish Tewari recently inaugurated an 'Akashvani' centre in the temple town of Ujjain. The centre will broadcast news and other local programmes daily for atleast an hour.

Congress MP Premchand Guddu stated that the 5 KW transmitter 'Akashvani' centre has been set up at Vidyapeeth Nagar at a cost of around Rs 3.5 crore.

He also mentioned that the matter of not starting broadcasting from the centre despite its completion was raised in Parliament. Following this, a decision was taken to inaugurate the centre in the city.

Also present at the occasion was PCC chief Kantilal Bhuria and Akashvani director general Leeladhar Mandloi.
