FM stations celebrate Friendship Day

MUMBAI: FM stations across the country have chalked up elaborate plans to celebrate Friendship Day over the weekend.

Big FM Delhi has formed the Friendship club with RJ Sujata and RJ Ravi. The station will share various callers' memories with their friends, whereas Bangalore celebrates the Chaddu Dostu contest where gang of friends connect to their friends from any place like college, school or social sites like Orkut and Facebook.

Big FM Gujrat will have shows hosted live from the ground. The RJs will involve participants into competitions like compatibility test and more activities.

Radio City Mumbai is celebrating 'City ka Dost' contest that allows listeners to build their network of friends through the FM station.
Chennai's Radio City features an innovative capsule called 'Radio Card' with RJ Archana on 'Endrendrum Punnagai' This special capsule allows the listener to design and create his very own on-air Friendship Day Greeting for his dearest friends in his own voice.

Radio City Pune, Lucknow and Coimbatore are celebrating with various contests and celebration where the station would involve various group of friends winning prizes and goodies from the radio station.
Fever Bangalore had an on-air contest on the station from 28 July to 1 August, which required the listeners to answer questions which cinemas twist to them. The winners of the contest will win get dinner vouchers, movie tickets and a chance to participate in the stations Fever Friendship Rally.

The rally will be flagged off in open-air, chauffeur driven, Fever 104 branded jeeps that will go around the city on pre-designated routes. The flag off will happen twice, once at 12 p.m. and once at 4 p.m. in Formula 1 style with a Fever chequered flag off.

My FM plans to celebrate the Day with already established Message Booths in 17 cities. Participants are being encouraged to fill up a template of Message which is then, tied to a balloon and set free, to land with the stranger. The recipients of messages shall be connected to those on air who have signed the messages and thus absolute strangers shall be provided with an opportunity to become friends. The station also gives away discount coupons for coffee joints or movies.

My FM Udaipur is launching a "Befriend the Nature" campaign a nature friendly campaign. The station also holds on air friendship contest where winners will be given couple passes for the Friendship Day party by the station. Participants in the party shall be asked to write a friendship message and the winners will be gifted plant sapling for their victory.
