Eco-friendly music fest in Jammu & Kashmir

MUMBAI: Combining live music with adventure sports the eco-friendly music fest ‘Gulmarg Winter festival 2012’ will showcase performances of renowned indie folk artistes Raghu Dixit, Half Step Down and Bombay Basement. The fest with magnificent Himalayas providing the backdrop will commence from 9-11 March.

The fest will also feature talented bands such as Traveling Blues, Lagori, Map & Manta Sidhu, Hundred Octane, Nyu'n'Tum Records, AudioGramme, Space, Rishi Inc., Hashback Hashish, Chill Om Records - DJ TaTvA K, Reuben, Highway 61, Tritha, TechnoholiK and Chakra Vu.

The fest will also feature adventurous sports like Snow adventure, Skiing and Snowboarding. The festival organized by Soul Curators and Synapses Adventures (SCSA) with the support of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism aims to bring people closer to nature.

SCSA spokesman said, “For the first time, people will witness performances by leading artistes in the beautiful locales of Gulmarg. The aim is to promote concert tours in India and encourage adventure sports and responsible tourism amongst the increasing domestic travelers. The festival is completely plastic free. With the involvement of local people displaying their handicrafts skill will truly be a cultural exchange between people from across the country.”
