Colonial Cousins' debut as composers

MUMBAI: Popular duo Leslie Lewis and Hariharan of Colonial Cousins' have now ventured into film composing. The duo has composed for tamil film Modhi Vilayadyu directed by Saran and also signed their second Tamil film Chikku Bukku

Speaking to radioandmusic.com about venturing into film music, Leslie Lewis says composing for films is much more easier, "I have composed for jingles before, so I am used to composing on given themes, but when it comes to solo albums, there is no direction - you have the option to go anywhere and you have to decide which route to take," he adds.

The two had come out with their hit album Colonial Cousins' in 1996, and are now working on their new solo album. "Our solo album is expected to come out by next year. Now we are just working on the tracks," says Lewis.

News reports mentioned that Saran, the director of the film wanted a new sound for the films music and that was the reason why he roped in Hariharan and Leslie to compose this new trend of music. Speaking about the films music, Lewis says, "It's not a Colonial Cousins album, but the music has definitely got our touch to it." On being asked if Bollywood was the next thing on their mind, he says, "Composing for bollywood is nothing different - we are open to it."
