MUMBAI: Pop star Beyonce Knowles is set to make a documentary on her life.

The notoriously-private 31- year old ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker is stepping behind the camera to direct and star in the new documentary about her life, as per reports.

The pop star said she was excited about giving her fans an intimate behind-the-scenes look at her private world.

"HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity. Some of my favourite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home," Beyonce said in a statement.

The singer will include personal footage of her life as an artist, wife to rapper Jay Z, and mum to daughter Blue Ivy for the project, which will air in America on US TV network Hbo on 16 February 2013.
