AT&T- PV to launch mobile music app

MUMBAI: US telco AT&T has joined hands with San Deigo based mobile software provider PacketVideo (PV) to launch a mobile app that brings radio, music downloading, song tagging, lyric searches and music streaming on an integrated platform. The mobile music application will offer its customers a more cohesive way to play, discover and shop for music using their mobile phone.

With this service, subscribers to AT&T Music can now listen to 40 commercial-free genre radio stations, customise unlimited personal radio stations, use song match to identify the tune by holding their phone up to music playing on the radio - TV or elsewhere, search for lyrics to identify song title and artist, preview, buy and download songs and albums straight to their phone, listen to personal music saved on their mobile device and including the ability to create and manage playlists and find music  by artist, album, song or genre - all this within one mobile broadband application 

According to their official statement, "the new AT&T Music service provides users with a unified music experience that integrates online genre and personalised radio stations, melody match and lyric lookup services, ability to buy and download full songs and albums, and more into a single, easy-to-navigate interface." 

A subsidiary of NextWave Wireless Inc., PV announced at the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association) that it was selected by AT&T to help bring AT&T's new end-to-end mobile music service to market.

Speaking about the shifts that the industry has seen in the last two years, PV CEO James Brailean said, "With the monumental shifts we've seen in other areas of mobile entertainment over the last two years, AT&T recognized a need to make mobile music simple, seamless, and relevant in users' lives. We're excited to work with AT&T to bring such a compelling service to fruition."

PacketVideo was founded in 1998 and is considered as pioneer in multimedia services. It has its presence in three continents, with its headquarters in San Diego. Major development centers are in San Diego, Chicago, Chandigarh, Charlotte, Tokyo, Tampere, Berlin, Boston, and Basel.
