Radio Mirchi celebrates 8th Birthday with Dia Mirza

MUMBAI: On Friday, 23rd April, the office of Mumbai's No. 1 Radio station looked nothing short of a lively playground. Amidst thousands of toys, were more than a dozen happy children from the NGO, Children Toy Foundation, who had come to the Radio Mirchi office to celebrate the station's 8th birthday! The icing on the cake was actress Dia Mirza who graced the special occasion 

In its pre birthday phase, Radio Mirchi had started the Mirchi Toy Factory – �Toy do, Joy lo' initiative where Mumbaikars were asked to come forward and donate toys and games for underprivileged children who work at construction sites or study in municipal schools.

The initiative received a great response where hundreds of Mirchi listeners who came forward to donate games from Pictionary to scrabble, from chess to carom. The celebration on Friday was a culmination of the initiative where the toys were finally handed over to the NGO children by Bollywood beauty Dia Mirza 

So, there was delicious cake, exuberant kids, piles of colourful toys AND a dash of Bollywood!

The joyous event brought smiles on the children's faces as a jovial Dia engaged them with her playful repartee and lit up the Radio Mirchi office with her hundred watt smile. The entire office cheered loudly as Dia along with the children, cut the toy shaped chocolate cake and then handed over her special toys to the kids 

Adding music to the occasion were also the talented duo -  Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur who joined in, strummed a few chords and sang a special â€?bird-day' song for Radio Mirchi from their latest film â€?Bird Idol' which releases today.

Appreciating Radio Mirchi's Mirchi Toy Factory initiative, Dia said, It's commendable how they come up with such nice initiatives every year. Last year we organized �Book Deke Dekho' and this time it's �Toy do, Joy lo' and I say WE... because I feel that I am a part of the team at Mirchi, I am immensely happy to be a part of such an occasion as I love children for their non-judgmental nature and the innocence and purity they exude...

Dia charmed everybody present by sharing her own birthday experience when she was five years old. Dia reminisced, It's my most memorable birthday till date. My parents arranged a puppet show with puppets that they had made themselves with special music that they arranged. I thoroughly enjoyed it!...

The occasion made Radio Mirchi's 8th birthday special and memorable as it underlined the importance of taking some time out of our busy lives for the less privileged section of the society.
