Purani Jeans enjoys loyal listenership

MUMBAI: From Kabootars to couriers … It was Letters, letters and more letters all around!!! This was the scenario when Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, India's hottest Radio station had announced its innovative idea 'E mail banned', a treat to the listeners on the occasion of Purani Jeans's, RJ Anmol's birthday in Mirchidaar retro style!!!

Aimed at reliving the moments of the retro age and to rejoice the excitement of writing letters, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM had announced a week long exciting campaign 'E mail banned'. The campaign invited Radio Mirchi listeners to send hand-written letters to Purani Jeans's RJ Anmol on his birthday, requesting their favorite song.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM received an over whelming response of letters from all over Mumbai accompanied by decorations, flowers, drawings, caricatures, poems and much more. Some of the famous songs played on air included the golden hits such as Pag Ghunghroo Baandh Meera Nachegi, Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil mein Khayaal Aata hai, Dum Maaro Dum, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani, Taareef Karoon Kya Uski, Yeh Dil Na hota Bechaara amongst the others.

Expressing his opinion on the response, Sriram Kilambi, Station Director, Radio Mirchi, Mumbai, said, "It was great to see such a wonderful response. Purani Jeans received hundreds of letters that indicated the loyalty that Radio Mirchi enjoys amongst the listeners. It was heartening to witness the popularity that Purani Jeans has gained within a few weeks of its launch. We would ask all our listeners not to miss this musical treat on Radio Mirchi 98.3FM, from 9pm to midnight, Sunday to Friday."
