Karnataka Nataka Sangeetha Vaibhava at Ranga Shankara on 05 Nov

MUMBAI: Ranga Shankara is organising Karantaka Nataka Sangeetha Vaibhava, the journey of Kannada theatre through its music at 7.30 pm on 03 November as part of the Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival '08, which pays tribute to Company Nataka 

A musical extravaganza, Karantaka Nataka Sangeetha Vaibhava narrates the story of 70 years of Company Nataka in Karnataka through its awe-inspiring music  Music has long been central to Kannada theatre. The song 'Kaminee maNee' sung by the character Bhasmaasura in the play 'Tilottame' (1936); 'Baramma bare sodaree…' sung by the character Krishna in the play 'Sangeetha Subhadra' (1940); 'Enna Siriye' sung by the protagonist Bedara Kannappa in the play of the same name(1944); 'Vyaamohave ee…' sung by the character Ramaakaanta in the play 'Bhakta Ambareesha' (1952); and the song 'Thoredanenna Pathi' by the lamenting character of Seetha in the 1960 play 'Lava Kusha' are the songs that can bring life back into the by-gone era of Kannada theatre.

At this year's Theatre Festival Ranga Shankara brings back to the stage these beautiful ranga geethes from the plays performed over the last 70 years through Karantaka Nataka Sangeetha Vaibhava directed by Y. K. MudduKrishna. The songs will be sung by R Paramashivan, P Vajrappa, Y K MudduKrisha, Attiguppe Krishnamurthy, Shantha Kumar, Hulikal Nagaraj, M S Umesh, Ma Na Murthy, Prathibha Narayan, BhagyaShree, B P Rajamma, B S Manjulamma, and B S Poornima.
