'Cry Freedom'- music for a revolution

MUMBAI: Music has the power to transcend barriers and bind people together. Living up to the slogan ‘Music for a revolution’, Cry Freedom Concert Series, a property conceptualized, produced and promoted by Indigo live, is a LIVE MUSIC PLATFORM for expression of freedom for today’s youth. To the youth of today, freedom no longer means independence from a colonial power. Freedom to them has different connotations and means different things to different people: freedom from corruption, freedom to choose a career, freedom to live the way one wants to, freedom to earn, freedom to enjoy music, films, dance and other arts without too much censorship, or something as simple as the freedom to go out and party without too many restrictions.

This edition of Cry Freedom will address the issue of ‘Freedom For Women’ by bringing together socially aware & like-minded individuals through the concert series. At a time when the fairer sex in our country has been subjected to a spate of heinous crimes and consequent injustice over the last few months alone, the cause assumes even greater significance. We may be shocked, angry and disgusted with incident after appalling incident that the media highlights; but unless we channelize this intensity into something more...we are doing ourselves a grave injustice.

Indigo business group COO Sanjay Prabhu said, “India today is a relatively free and open society; what we need to do is make more efforts to sustain and develop these qualities. We need to reach out to issues from a profound understanding of the deeply interconnected nature of today's world. As we know, music has always had the power to draw and unite people together. We are extremely thrilled and excited to bring to you the Cry Freedom concert.”

Cry Freedom 2013 has collaborated with Give India as the philanthropy partner for the cause of women. Give India is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to helping people support a cause of their choice from approximately 150 NGOs listed with Give India. Music, as a medium, reaches out to a wide variety of people and we believe the Cry Freedom concert series is a unique initiative to address the issue of violence against women. Through this association, Cry Freedom aims to support 51 women by raising funds for Swadhar IDWC (Institute for development of Women & Children) and CSSAR (Center for Social Security Action & Research).

Taking it ahead, Indigo Live, in association with Blue Frog, presents the Cry Freedom concert that will resonate with the music lovers of Mumbai & Delhi. With an exceptional ensemble of artists from diverse genres, music lovers will experience the best of performances by the hugely talented and distinctive Indian music fraternity on Friday, 9 August 2013 @ Blue Frog Mumbai and on Saturday, 24 August 2013 @ Blue Frog Delhi. This 4 hour unbridled LIVE concert aims to bring together music aficionados, independent, sovereign, open minded and receptive people...all under one single roof, all united towards a single cause. The musical line-up would comprise of popular genres such as Electronica and Indie-Rock; performed by both noted and emerging artists such as Dualist Inquiry, Sulk Station, Sandunes, Vasuda Sharma and Aditi Mittal (Stand-up Comedy) in Mumbai and Ash Roy, Dualist Inquiry, Hari and Sukhmani, Jasleen Royal & Neeti Palta (Stand-up Comedy) in Delhi.
