MUMBAI: In an attempt to stop online piracy, Coca-Cola and Samsung have pulled their ads from a popular Vietnamese website 'Zing.vn' for providing unlicensed downloads of Western and local songs. The companies have abandoned the music site after ‘The Associated Press’ alerted them to local and international concerns about the website which is named as the sixth-most visited site in the nation.

Hungama.com receives investment from Intel

MUMBAI: Hungama.com, aggregator, developer, publisher and Bollywood and South-Asian content distributor, is among one of the 10 companies that has received an undisclosed amount of capital from Intel this year. Intel Capital, the global investment and M&A arm of chipmaker Intel Corporation, on Wednesday announced  investments worth $40 million  (Rs 209 crore) in 10 technology companies in the world, including Hungama.Com from India.

Led Zep announces Celebration Day premieres

MUMBAI: Legendary rock band Led Zeppelin has announced the premiere dates and venues of their 2007 O2 concert film ‘Celebration Day’. The premieres will be held in four cities around the world. The film’s worldwide premiere will start at New York’s Zeigfeld Theatre on 9 October. Prior to the premiere, founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, for a press conference at New York's Museum of Modern Art, report said.

Abba's 'Gold' named best-selling CD in UK

MUMBAI: Seventies Swedish pop band Abba’s greatest hits album ‘Gold’ has topped UK’s all-time best selling CD list. The band’s ‘Gold – Greatest Hits’ compilation album released after 10 years after the group split in 1982  has sold more than four million copies, to take the number 1 spot, agency report has said. The album unsurprisingly has some of the band’s most loved pop hits like ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Chiquitita’, ‘Take a Chance on Me’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.

IRS Q2: Radio records positive growth

MUMBAI: After witnessing negative growth in the past year, the radio sector has finally bounced back and recorded a positive compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.9 per cent (over 2011 Q4 to 2012 Q2). According to the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2012 Q2 report, radio recorded a reach of 158.16 million as compared to its reach in the first quarter which was recorded at 154.94 million.
