Mindflew, Ioish & Zokova to perform at DelhiÆs Pepsi MTV Ribbit

MUMBAI: Mindflew, Ioish and Zokova, three bands that are unique from the other, will be seen performing at MTV Indies’ latest edition of ‘Pepsi MTV Ribbit’ on 30 August, 2015.

The IP is making its debut in Delhi through this edition.

Mindflew, a four member alternate/indie/psychedelic band, will be releasing their new single at the gig.

On the other hand, while Ioish is a three member world/post genre band, Zokova is also a three member post rock project and has ten interlinked songs, which are primarily instrumental.

Confirming Ioish’s participation in the gig, one of the band members Vaibhav said, “We play post rock music. Post rock is basically instrumental progressive music. It has basic elements of electronic music. Not many people in our country listen to this kind of music but it’s getting some attention now.”

Ioish will also be releasing their EP at Pepsi MTV Ribbit.

Both Mindflew and Zokova are bands created by Rithvik. He created Mindflew nine years ago, which was then called ‘Angry Mobs.’ While Zokova was created in March, the germ of the idea was sowed in 2008 when it was Rithvik’s solo project.

Talking about Mindflew, he said, “Our band has been sticking to original music from the beginning and we call this music the happy - sad music. Basically, we don’t believe in categorising music too much hence, instead of dividing it as indie rock, funk and electronic, we kept it as happy sad.”

Mindflew is currently working on an album that is designed around the cable TV in the 1990s. The singles have been designed around the telly shopping ads and the band has created their own products. One of their products is called ‘Sapne The Dream,’ which is all about conning the world by selling a product that helps one fulfil their dreams. Their next single titled ‘Flower Fantasy 500’ is on the same lines. While the band has worked on almost eight to ten songs for the album, the final number of songs hasn’t been locked.

Mindflew will be seen promoting this album at Pepsi MTV Ribbit. “Since we are releasing a single – ‘Flower Fantasy 500’ - that is very fictional, we have painted flying blue horses in empty bottles to market it. We will be placing at least 100 of these bottles at Ribbit. We are also working on a drink called ‘Sapne The Drink’ on the lines of our song ‘Sapne the Dream’ to get the instant connect at Ribbit,” said Mindflew band member Chona.

The band will also give away limited copies of their singles at Pepsi MTV Ribbit.

When queried about the reason for having two separate bands, Rithvik said, “There is no particular reason but the fact is that I love playing music and I can’t play one kind of music. I like different set ups and sounds. Hence, I have Mindflew and Zokova. I have two more bands one of them is based on electronic influence and one is acoustic.”
