No proposal to include electronic media under Wage Board: Govt.

NEW DELHI: The Government has categorically said there is no proposal at present to include all journalists in electronic media under the Wage Board. Minister of State for Labour & Employment Kodikunnil Suresh clarified in Parliament that journalists from the electronic media are not covered under the Wage Board for journalists.

Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

MUMBAI: As part of its tradition of honouring the stalwarts of art, culture and sports, Delhi government honoured two of India’s most respected flag bearers in the field of music and visual arts – Padma Bhushan Abdul Rashid Khan and Padma Shri Anjolie Ela Menon. The two veteran artists were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, 2013 by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit at a ceremony presented by the Department of Art, Culture and Languages and organised by the Sahitya Kala Parishad. Both artists were awarded a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh each and a citation.

Rajasthani folk musician Sakar Khan passes away

MUMBAI: Noted Rajasthani Kamaicha player and Padma Shri awardee Sakar Khan, an exponent of the melodious bow and string instrument Kamaicha, passed away in Jaisalmer. Sakar Khan, resident of Hamira village of Jaisalmer, was suffering from a respiratory illness for some time.He was buried in his village in the presence of his family and several other folk musicians from across Rajasthan.
