MUMBAI: Renowned Pakistani singer Mehnaz Begum passed away on Saturday in Bahrain, when she was enroute to US for treatment. Reports state that the singer was suffering from respiratory problems and died during a short stay in Bahrain. Aged 55, Begum was a chronic patient of diabetes and asthma and was travelling to US for advanced medical care. Reportedly, she collapsed after her condition worsened while she was waiting for her flight in the boarding lounge at the airport.

read moreMUMBAI: The National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) announced today it has negotiated a model licensing deal with Warner Music Group (WMG) for music videos. This agreement enables songwriters and music publishers to receive a percentage of the revenue generated from WMG's music videos in exchange for the use of their musical works in those music videos. The deal will be offered to all NMPA members on an opt in basis through the Harry Fox Agency (HFA).

HMV (now known as Saregama) quoted too high prices, so producer-director Lakhia dropped the idea of including the song. Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Lakhia said, “HMV has the rights of the song and they have quoted 30-60 lakhs. As it is a very high price, we will not include the song and T-Series has decided on a new qawwali song.”
