MUMBAI: Film director Vikram Bhatt is foraying into the music business scene and is planning to launch a music label, ASA Music. This sister concern of Bhatt's ASA Productions will be open to market music produced by other production houses as well.

Confirms Vikram Bhatt, "We would be marketing and distributing film as well as non-film music and are also ready to market films outside ASA Productions."

ASA Music will be headed by Crescendo managing director Suresh Thomas. Says Thomas, “Vikram just wanted an inhouse label to promote his ASA productions but soon we thought of launching a full-fledged label. The label will be open to promote productions by other producers as well.”...

MUMBAI: Polish band Zakopower will perform live in Mumbai for the first time on 24 November at the NCPA.

Zakopower, that was nominated for the 'Best Polish Act' at the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards, is part of the cultural line up which the Consulate General of Poland has drawn up celebrations to mark its 75th year in Mumbai and the 90th year of Poland's independence.

Combining traditional folk music of Polish Gorals with modern beats and rhythms, the band captures the quintessence of Polish music today. Seamlessly crossing and combining genres, they create an eclectic mix of music that spans electronic, pop and folk rock. ...

MUMBAI: Anuj Sharma, the forgotten third finalist of Indian Idol's second season is ready to cut his debut solo Hindi album.

Says the singer, “Universal Music is launching my solo Hindi debut album, ‘Khwaab’ in December and I would be making my comeback in the Hindi music scene.”

The music for ‘Khwaab’ has been composed on an assortment basis by Gaurav Dayal of (Dil le gayi kudi Gujarat ki fame) and Saibal Basu, who had earlier composed for the 2003 film Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II.

Says Sharma, “Khwaab has eight tracks, five composed by Gaurav and three by Saibal. The album is a mixed bag of all genres, rock, hip hop, which appeal to youngsters today.”...

MUMBAI: T-Series Public Performance License (TPPL) president M M Satish has put in his papers at music company T-Series, with which he was associated for over last five years.

The anti-piracy crusader, who made headlines with his anti piracy measures as head of the PPL at the Indian Music Industry, and then as head of TPPL, is turning scriptwriter and producer for Hindi films. Satish will be taking up the position of CEO of a reputed entertainment company within a month....

MUMBAI: Legendary rock band 'Queen', which released their first studio album, The Cosmos Rocks with multi instrumentalist and Grammy nominated vocalist Paul Rodgers recently, was paid tribute by Mumbai's music connoisseurs on Tuesday at the Hard Rock Cafe.

The album, released in the EU on 13 September, is scheduled to be launched in North America on 28 October.
