Aditya Balani Group

Body:

If you've observed a guitar carefully you will notice frets, or metal markers that make the note what it is, when pressed on the fingerboard. They are like signposts on the highway of creating music. However, there are some who decide that they will go it without the help of these signs. Not only do you need complete mastery of the road, you need a keen sense of where you wish to go.

Meet Aditya Balani, probably India's only fretless lead guitar player. He comes with a rich pedigree having attended Berklee School of Music in the USA and collaborated with musicians from places as far and wide as Spain, Serbia and Chile. Blending Indian classical and folk traditions seamlessly, the Aditya Balani Group aims at using jazz as a fabric to weave a soundscape of colours from around the world.

The ensemble that comes to Kyra this 30 August features a Nippun Cheema on the Accordion, Suhail Yusuf Khan (Advaita) on the Sarangi among others.
