Sivamani drums up debut album

MUMBAI: Acclaimed drummer Sivamani will launch his first album ever, in Mumbai on 10 December.

The album, titled Mahaleela, was launched in Chennai by iconic music composer A R Rahman last week. The Mumbai launch will be graced by tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. 'Mahaleela', that comes with a tag line �my experiences through life' is being launched under the aegis of KVKM records, a label floated by Sivamani himself.

The launch in Chennai was launched by prominent names in the music industry like A R Rahman, playback singer S P Balasubramaniam, ghatam vidwan Vikku Vinayakaram, mandolin maestro U Sreenivas. Mahaleela is Sivamani's first album in a musical career spanning 35 years.

KVKM records is meant to provide new artistes a great opportunity to exhibit themselves, sources say.

The album comprises 12 tracks with a mix of vocal and instrumental, each dedicated to emotional moments of his life and some composed while jamming with great Indian classical artists. Veterans like Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakaram, Louis Banks, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan and Neeladri Kumar have contributed towards compilation of Mahaleela.
