Shaan turns composer, readies for non-film release

MUMBAI: Popular Bollywood singer Shaan will soon be releasing his sixth non-film album tentatively titled 'Har Lamha'. "The date of the album has not be decided but I have already recorded the album," he said.

For his forthcoming album, Shaan has composed and written six tracks while the remaining four tracks have been composed by Jeet- Pritam - a popular name in the Bengali music fraternity.

Till now, Shaan has albums like Tishnagi, Love Story, Love-o-logy, Tanha Dil, Aksar and Q-Funk to his credit - of which majority of them were fun. However, this forthcoming album could well be his last 'fun' album, he says.

"After every album I make, I think this is my last album. I know I am not getting any younger, but then I think again - let me do one more. However, this time, I think this is going to be the last one - after this you will find me dressed with a shawl singing ghazals," he added.

Of late, Shaan has been singing songs which are commercial and less experimental. Wouldn't he like to experiment with other styles? "I don't think in terms of genre's," he says, "I am very limited singer, so, for instance, singing a classical song is totally out of my league," he admits.

Shaan is thinking of ways to promote his forthcoming album, "I have to think of all sorts of ways to promote the album because making a video, sending ads is not enough - we are looking at net (internet) and live performances," he adds.

The affable singer recently performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London with his band, "Majority of the audience was European, and I could not really understand if they knew what I was singing - that made me a little nervous, but the over all experience was great," he added.

The singer will be celebrating his 37th birthday on 30 September 2009.
