Pakistani band Jal unveils third album 'Pyaas'

MUMBAI: Pakistani Pop-rock band Jal has launched its third studio album ‘Pyaas’. The band had launched their last album ‘Boondh’ in 2007.

The album released under Universal Music comprises of 12 original tracks. Front man of the band Goher Mumtaz said, “We are aware that our fans have waited for almost six years for this new album and thus it was important that we come back with an album that’s been worth the wait.”

Sharing his experience working on the album, he said, “We have worked extremely hard on 'Pyaas' and are very happy with the end product. We do hope our fans love it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.”

Universal Music is promoting and marketing the album world-wide. “We could not have found a better home than Universal Music to put it out simply because they share the same passion for our music as we do. We are confident that they will leave no stone unturned to promote and market it,” he added.

Universal Music India VP- marketing Sunil D’Sa said, “We at Universal Music India are totally excited to release the new album from one of Pakistan’s premiere rock bands Jal. This new album, their first in almost six years is easily their most intense and creative work till date."

Mumtaz and Aamir Sheraz are the present active members of the band. “Goher’s vocals sound great while there’s some stunning guitar work from Aamir 'Shazi' Tufail. The anticipation for this new album from the fans has been palpable and I can confidently say that they will love every track on the album making the long wait well worth it,” D’Sa added.

Formed in Lahore in 2002, Jal  is one of the most commercially successful and influential rock music groups of all time in Pakistan. In spite of all the constant change in the members of the band it still holds a significant name. Atif Aslam was earlier a part of the band. After the success of their first single ‘Aadat’ which is also the name of their debut album, lead vocalist of the band Atif Aslam parted away from the band due to musical differences with lead guitarist Mumtaz.
