NEW DELHI:  Information and Broadcast Ministry might soon commence the roll out of the pending FM radio Phase III, as was indicated by I&B minister Ambika Soni. She pointed out that the process will begin shortly.

Soni further said that Phase III may include introduction of news accessed from All India Radio. The Minister also indicated in an informal meet that the radio stations may also be permitted to broadcast sports, films or other news bulletins. This might come as a relief to the existing and new broadcasters in the radio business who have been voicing for news and current affairs for monetisation through varied content.

Soni said the Ministry's note on Phase III has been pending with the Cabinet for the last two and a half months.
