DJ Suketu reminisces Pancham Da's classics with latest album

MUMBAI: Reminiscing the magical era of music legend RD Burman, renowned music producer/DJ Suketu in collaboration with contemporary singers has launched a compiled album of Burman's classic tracks - 'DJ Suketu & Friends present RD Burman Reinvented' through EMI music.

In the album, comprising of 10 tracks, the producer has recreated and reinvented different melodies from the bouquet of Burman's catalogue in a unique style featuring trends from today's popular EDM sounds with vocals by a wide array of contemporary Indian singers.

The album has renditions by renowned artistes like Javed Ali, Anusha Dandekar, Anushka Manchanda, Abbey, Alam, Arjun, Chin2 Bhosle, , Kamran Ahmed, Manasi Scott, Mustafa Zahid, Sophie Choudary and Sukhbir, who have given their own signature touch as a tribute to Pancham Da.

The album features tracks like 'Dilbar Mere' (Kamran Ahmed), 'Pyar Humein Kis Mod Pe Le Aaya' (Javed Ali), 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' (Chin2 Bhosle & Anusha Dandekar), 'Bachh Ke Rehna Re Baba' (Anushka Manchanda), 'Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho' (Sukhbir), 'Pyar Mein Dil Pe' (Sophie), 'Mehbooba' (Alam Khan), 'Poochho Na Yaar Kya Hua' (Manasi Scott & Arjun), 'Mamiya Kairo Mama' (Abbey) and 'Gulabi Aankhen' (Mustafa Zahid)

Speaking about the album, DJ Suketu said, "The inspiration for the album came from the thought of how RD would have created music in this age of modern sound, although it was a tough ask to decide upon 10 songs from the huge collection, but we wanted to touch all the different moods of RD Burman magic. This is our tribute to the man who changed the music scenario in India. This album will also expose the new generation to the music of RD Burman, as the songs have been recreated using modern technology like DubStep which makes them sound more contemporary"
