MUMBAI: Renowned Pakistani singer Atif Aslam got married to his long time sweetheart Sarah Bharwana at a ceremony in Lahore.

He had met his wife at Kinnaird College around 12 years ago. As per agency reports, Aslam and Bharwana became close friends and got engaged in October 2011.

In a message posted on his fan page on Facebook, the singing sensation stated, "My big day has finally arrived with your prayers. Allah has endowed me with a wonderful life partner. I would request all of you to continue praying for us as you have always been doing in the past for me."

A radio host Dr Ejaz Waris stated that the wedding event was intended to be low-key, with no media invited to cover it. He also added that the marriage had not taken place earlier because the singer had some prior business commitments.
