Agnee composes theme song for MTV's Splitsvilla 3

MUMBAI: Inde rock band Agnee is all set to release its third online single 'Ranjaan Yaar Di' on 8 February.

The track will make its debut on 8 Febuary on MTV as Splitsvilla season three's theme song. The video of the song will also be released on the music channel. Talking about the track, Agnee's lead vocalist Mohan Kannan says, "It is a Punjabi love song with lots of guitar and drum beats giving an overdrive rock feel to it." The lyrics of the track are written by Shellee who has earlier penned the track Pardesi from Dev D. The video of the song was shot in Goa and will feature the band in it.

The band had earlier composed for the theme song of MTV's reality shows Splitsvilla 2 as well for Roadies season seven.

The band will release the track online on their site too. "We wil not charge for the music. So the track can be downloaded free from the web. We will release the entire album in physical form as CDs once all the eight tracks are released online. It would be for the audience who have no access to the internet," Kannan quips

The video will also be aired on other channels "though not simultaneously but a little later," says Kannan. The song will be aired on radio stations as well. "We are in talks with Fever FM as well as Mirchi. Soon listeners will be able to listen our songs on radio as well." It is often seen that radio stations do not give much air time to non-film music "which is why we have launched a video. It will increase our visibility and the popularity of the song," he adds

The band will release its next song in April - a duet with Shilpa Rao. Agnee has also collaborated with various artistes. "We have collaborated with Miti Adhikari who is a producer mainly associated with recording sessions for BBC Radio. He has also collaborated with several international artistes like pearl Jam, Madonna, Coldplay apart from several others. Another track with Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya is also on the cards though that would take some time," explains Kannan.

The band also has a few Bollywood projects in hand, including the Raveena Tandon, Tabu starer Gulab Gag. The band is also scoring for Onir's next project named Megha. "I have sung along with Rekha Bharadwaj for a track. The project should be released in April," concludes Kannan.
