MUMBAI: A comprehensive airplay charts of songs and movie/music album on popular radio stations across the country has been compiled by AirCheck India, the radio monitoring service provided by RCS. An analysis of the airplay of popular songs in the year 2012 has been condensed into a chart of the twenty most popular songs and top twenty movie/music album on radio in India.

This year Sony Music bagged the first position in the Top 20 songs chart complied by AirCheck for the year 2012. The top song for the year ‘Chikni Chameli’ from the movie ‘Agneepath’ started at number two from the first week of release in mid December 2011. The song stayed on the charts till the middle of May 2012 and it held the number 1 position for 10 weeks in the T20 charts for the year. T-Series had the most number of song entries in the T20 Songs for the year. 11 songs from T-Series are featured in the Top 20 for the year.

‘Item’ numbers ruled the countdown this year. Shreya Ghoshal is the female artist with the maximum entries (5 songs) in the chart. Mika Singh & Benny Dayal share the number 1 position in male artist with 3 songs each.

The top composer for the year 2012 is Pritam with 5 entries in the complied chart.  He also partnered with Devi Sri Prasad for the movie ‘Ready’ making the total of 6 entries for him with 4 movies taking the top 4 positions. Vishal & Shekhar are in the second place with 3 entries.

‘T-series’ is the number one music label in the Top 20 movie/music album chart with 10 entries. Sony Music is in the second position with 5 entries for the year 2012 complied by AirCheck.

Akshay Kumar is the top actor having four songs starring him on the Top 20 Songs and Top 20 movies/music albums, out of which two also include John Abraham. Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham & Emraan Hashmi feature with 3 songs each on this Top 20 Songs chart. Kareena Kapoor bagged the leading female actor with four entries, while Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Asin Thottumkal taking second position with two movies each.

The newlywed couple Genelia D'Souza & Ritesh Deshmukh gave the superhit song ‘Piya O Re Piya’ that featured in the T20 Songs charts just before their marriage. While the second reel and real life pair Saif and Kareena who also tied the knot this year made the entry with the super hit movie ‘Agent Vinod’ in the charts.

The Tamil movie ‘3’ with the most number of hits for the song “Why this Kolaveri Di’ has made single non Hindi language entry in both charts.
