SEYDU ÔÇô Sierra Leone/Spain performs at Blue Frog

MUMBAI: Sierra Leone/Spain performs at Blue Frog on Oct 23, 24, 25. SEYDU is a fantastic artist from Sierra Leone, who currently resides in Spain.

Seydu was born in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone (West Africa). His earliest musical experiences were shaped by that city and by his musical family. His grandfather taught him the secrets of drumming and his mother sang Fullah and Mandingo songs. After performing with the National Dance Troupe of Sierra Leone, Seydu moved to Nigeria and then to Spain, where he played and recorded with a number of Spanish bands. After leaving his first band, Bambara, (a reggae-oriented group) he started to develop his own musical ideas based on the traditional music of his childhood and the diverse musical influences he had encountered in his eclectic career

SEYDU is an amazing percussionist and vocalist, who has performed with many acclaimed African and European artists and has 2 albums out. His band is comprised of very high profile musicians from Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuatorial Guinea and Brazil. He has performed with heavyweights such as Youssou N'Dour, Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango, Djavan, Caetano Veloso.

SEYDU's music is very upbeat 'afro-beat' music which blends traditional African music with pop and jazz, very melodic and joyful and they are a great dance band.
