Red FM celebrates No Honking Day on April 7!!!

MUMBAI: Come April 7, and RED FM is all geared up to celebrate 'No Honking Day' which an initiative towards reducing the noise levels in Mumbai. Keeping with its brand proposition of 'Bajaate Raho', Red FM will play a pivotal role in creating awareness about the rising noise levels in the city.

RED FM has pledged to generate awareness about Noise pollution and its hazards on No Honking Day. Red FM radio jockeys will invite listeners to bajaao people who create havoc by increasing noise decibel levels in the city. Keeping listener interactivity at its maxim, Red FM will invite its listeners to report the number plate of any vehicle found creating a nuisance with consistent or irritating honking. RED FM on-air jockeys will immediately remind the offender by saying, "Hi MH-01-C-6264, Its No Honking Day, so please stop honking" and the driver will also get the famous 'Sataak'!!!

On the prowl will be Red FM OB jock's who will take on the streets for this cause. Armed with Noise meters they will visit No Honking Zones to check whether the decibel levels are below the permissible limit of 60 DBs. People found honking in these areas will be given pamphlets and stickers informing them about the hazards of noise pollution.

Commenting on the initiative, Anuj Singh, National Marketing Head and Station Head (Mumbai) said, "Bajaate Raho Music, magar mat bajaao horns...that's our message on No Honking day! Honking on the congested roads not only adds to public harassment but also affects the already harrowed people of Mumbai. By recording the decibel levels at various No Honking zones, we want to make people aware of the very high levels of noise that people in the city are living in."

He further added, "Red FM with its CSR arm Bajaao for a Cause is known for doing things differently! This initiative is another attempt at raising awareness and driving action!"

According to a research carried out by the WHO, UNICEF and World Bank, noise pollution is one of the 12 environment pollutants that causes 30 serious diseases. In recent years there have been alarming rise in noise levels of this city due to which, Mumbai has been reported as the second noisiest city in the World!!!
