Live Earth freinds 'Karnatriix' release new album

New Delhi: Led by guitarist John "Johny" Anthony, fusion band Karnatriix's released thier new album 'Namaste'.

When asked to describe the music on Namaste, guitarist Johny says, "In one word - trippy!" On a more serious note, Anthony adds,"Redefining the world of contemporary classical music with New Age groovy sound experiments". Karnatriix's music has elements of jazz, blues, rock, trance, funk, and classical sounds in perfect harmony with the Carnatic 'kritis' of Saint Thyagaraja  Johny considers musicians such as John McLaughlin, Miles Davis, Johann Sebastian Bach and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as his inspiration.

The album features Johny's controlled guitar work along with Faiyaz Ahmed Khan's sarangi, the percussions are by Darbuka Siva  Karnatriix was widely acclaimed in July 2007 during the Friends of Live Earth concert in Chennai. Earlier this year they toured China and Hong Kong to very receptive audiences.

Says Johny, "Our music is an extension of our soul and freewill. We believe strongly in our freedom to express ourselves by doing what we do best and that is making music and ultimately experiencing it. We hope other people too can share our experience.

IndiaBeat (www.indiabeat.in), which has had a popular presence on the Internet as an online radio station and MySpace since 2006, covers the genres of Indian classical, jazz, progressive rock and fusion music. IndiaBeat, the music label, was launched in June 2008. 'Namaste" is their third release.
