Khajuraho temple dances, Dhrupad in Darbhanga live on DD Bharati
NEW DELHI: Doordarshan is to telecast live on DD Bharati the Khajuraho Festival of Dances from 20 to 26 February featuring a large number of performances.
The telecast will be from 7 pm onwards from the Khajuraho Temples in Madhya Pradesh.
The programmes include Kathak performances by Sharmishtha Mukherjee's group, Teena Tambe, Hemant Vaishali Pawar and Shamamate and group; Odissi by Dona Ganguly and Raghunath Das, Sharmila Viswas and group, and Lucky Mohanty; Bharatnatyam by Uma Nambudaripad Satyanarayan, Anvesha Das, Amrita Vevursen and K. Lakshmana Swamy and group; Kuchipudi by Vempatti Venkat and Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, Sneha Magapu, Krithika Varsha and Jinakraj; and Mohiniattam by Gopika Verma.
Currently, DD Bharati is telecasting live a three-day Dhrupad festival at DARBAR Hall in Darbhanga in memory of Pandit Bidur Mallick, Dhrupad Maestro.
Organized by Doordarshan Patna in collaboration with Pandit Bidur Mallick Dhrupad Academy, Allahabad, the programme was telecast from 15-17 February between 6 pm and 9 pm.
The performances on 17 February will include Uday Kumar Mallick - Dhrupad Vocal with Ashutosh Upadhyay - Pakhawaj Accompaniment; Radhagovind Das - Dhrupad Vocal with Tapas Kumar Das - Pakhawaj Accompaniment; Ustad F Wasifuddin Dagar - Dhrupad Vocal accompanied by Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma on Pakhawaj; Pandit Prem Kumar Mallick – Dhrupad Vocal with Santosh Mishra – Sarangi Accompaniment and Anand Kumar Mallick – Pakhawaj Accompaniment.
