History channel and Extreme Music Release Epic Soundtrack to the Acclaimed and Emmy Award-Winning Series WWII in HD

MUMBAI: Extreme Music, the production music arm of Sony/ATV, and A+E Networks proudly announce the release of the soundtrack to the History channel's inspirational WWII in HD series.  Available now for the first time on iTunes, the soundtrack is packed with 19 triumphant tracks, including the main title theme,  used to create the audio backdrop that helped breathe life into this epic 10-part docu-series.

The heroic, battle-ready overtures featured on the WWII in HD soundtrack capture the emotions behind the personal accounts depicted in the episodic docu-series.  The music highlights the trials and tribulations unfolding in the revolutionary, never-before-seen footage and first-hand accounts chronicling one of the World's most tumultuous eras.

"WWII in HD has been a thrilling and inspiring project to be involved with," said Russell Emanuel, Extreme Music CEO.  "This collection contains some of the key tracks used in the breath-taking series History has created."

WWII in HD is the first-ever World War II documentary presented in full, immersive HD color. Culled from thousands of hours of lost and rare color archival footage gathered from a worldwide search through basements and archives, WWII in HD has changed the way the world sees this defining conflict. Using footage never before seen by most Americans--converted to HD for unprecedented clarity—viewers have experienced the war as if they were actually there, surrounded by the real sights and sounds of the battlefields.

What separates WWII in HD is the filmmakers' decision to view these events through the experiences of a dozen individuals who were actually there, including war correspondents (one of whom, Richard Tregaskis, was the author of the seminal Guadalcanal Diary); an Austrian immigrant who escaped the Nazis and almost immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army; a nurse with General George Patton's Third Army; an African-American pilot who was one of the famed Tuskegee Airmen; a Japanese-American medic who fought heroically while his family was held in an internment camp; and others from the rank and file.

The series follows these 12 unforgettable Americans who represented different branches of the service and fought in the major theaters of WWII, experiencing the war through their eyes and in their own words. These accounts are voiced by such actors as Rob Lowe, Amy Smart, Steve Zahn, Josh Lucas, and LL Cool J with Gary Sinise providing voice-over narration. The entire effect is a dramatic, movie-like documentary showing in visceral detail what the war was really like.
