Big FM celebrates Ugadi

MUMBAI: Big FM's Bangalore station, today celebrated the Kannada New Year ‘Ugadi’ by organising an exciting event ‘Big Obattu Party', an event where listeners got home cooked obbattu (traditional sweet flatbread made during Ugadi) to the Big FM studios.

With obbattu brought in from all parts of the city by excited listeners, what came together was a pot-luck with the best assortment of obbattus ever! The event was attended by upcoming Kannada actress Deepika Kamaiah who also adjudged and awarded the best obbattu maker. Deepika is starring in the upcoming Kannada film ‘Auto Raja’ alongside Golden Star Ganesh.

Listeners who thronged the station with their best obbattus, interacted and broke bread with the RJs of Big FM and Deepika Kamiah. The fun, merriment and ambience inside the studios truly exemplified a perfect Ugadi celebration. Adding to the fun at the studios was an assortment of eclectic music On-Air that celebrated the festive mood and was accompanied by messages from Deepika and the RJs wishing listeners a Happy Ugadi.

Commenting on the occasion, Big FM business head Ashwin Padmanabhan said, “Ugadi is the biggest festival for all of us in Karnataka and we are happy to welcome the New Year with our listeners. The ‘Big Obattu Party’ with Deepika Kamaiah was in keeping with our tradition of celebrating festivals in a unique way which has always been enjoyed and well received by our listeners.”
