Sony unveils Xperia Z, ZL smartphone

MUMBAI: Sony Mobile Communications has introduced another smartphone on its Xperia series Xperia Z, which will be launched globally in Q1 2013. The Xperia ZL is stated to be available only in select markets in March this year.

The Xperia Z is equipped with a 5-inch full HD 1080p TFT display, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor Pro APQ8064, android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 13MP Exmor RS camera, 1080p video recording with HDR option, FM radio, bluetooth 4.0, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, 16GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD, 2230mAh battery and NFC.

According to Sony, Xperia Z features a unique OmniBalance design with subtly rounded edges and smooth reflective surfaces on all sides. It is also quite rough and tough with tempered glass and anti-shatter film on the front and back as well as IP57-certified for dust and water resistance.

Xperia ZL comes with same features as Z, but in a smaller form factor.

Both the handsets will launch on android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be upgraded to 4.2 shortly after launch for the latest Android user experience.

The pricing details are yet to be revealed.
