Music Industry Veteran Polly Anthony Succumbs to Cancer

MUMBAI: Leading came naturally to her and the climb was steep. That is why the loss can be felt so deep. Polly Anthony, exec with Record Labels like Epic and Geffen and a frequent mention in MJs speeches, has died having battled Pancreatic Cancer for a long time.

Her career trajectory was steep, since her appointment as an assistant at CBS Record in 1978, moving on to being promoted to senior vice president of promotion, to [resident of Epic’s 550 Music (original label home to Ben Folds Five and Mandy Moore) and then president of Epic Records Group. Anthony then moved to Los Angeles to be the co-President of Geffern Records alongside Jordan Schur in 2004.

"My dear friend and sister by choice, Polly Anthony has passed away. I am heartbroken for her family and those of us lucky enough to know this amazing badass loyal protective and fierce woman warrior who I was lucky to have in my life all these years. There will b a hole forever in it now. I love U. RIP dear Polly," wrote songwriter Diane Warren on her Facebook page, expressing her condolences.

Sharon Osbourne also tweeted the loss of the iconic woman. "So sad to hear about the passing of Polly Anthony. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Much love and respect."
