MUMBAI: Remember how two young metal musicians from Mumbai organised a DIY gig on a hot Sunday afternoon urging for full support and power? Well, after receiving what they sought for, the organisers – Adit Khanzode and Keyoor Karadkhedkar – have stood by the promise and returned with the second edition of ‘Black Blood’ – a New Bombay based metal gig.

The first edition of this ‘pay-what-you-want’ initiative included five metal bands from Mumbai and around. ‘Black Blood 2’ – as it’s called – would feature the same number of bands, with a different line-up and bigger associates. Belapur’s Cult Lounge will host the event for the second time, and Pepsi MTV Indies have joined the initiative as the digital support.

The line-up for Black Blood 2 -

Carnage Inc – The thrash/speed metal band turns five-year old today, and the four-piece outfit ‘Carnage Inc’ comprises of Varun Panchal (Guitars/Vocals), Navin mudaliyar (Lead Guitar), Jason Dias (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Moinuddin Farooqui (Drums).

Trinergic – This melodic death metal band has been making a name for itself for quite a few years. The band includes Rahul Nair on vocals, Sharang Gaikwad on guitars, Kishan Mulani on bass and Emmanuel Paul on drums.

Orion – Another four-piece band joins the list for Black Blood 2. The progressive death metal draws inspiration from Opeth to Bhayanak Maut, and their sound stands as a reflection to that. Orion is – Vigneshkumar Venkatraman on guitars and vocals, Ashwin Kulkarni on lead guitars, Anshuman Bhattacharya on bass and Pritesh Prabhune on drums.

Asylum – One of the youngest bands of the metal scene – Asylum – is a groove metal act with a lot of promises. Serving the fans for around four years now, the four-piece band has played at BIG69 and blueFROG Metal Nights. Asylum comprises of Anubhav Rattan, Raghu Raj, Vivek Bhatt, Naval Katoch.

Albatross – The biggest band of the line-up (strength and popularity wise) – Albatross – is a heavy metal band, thus ensuring Black Blood covers almost every metal immediate sub-genres. With Dr. Hex on bass, Jay Thacker on drums, Vigneshkumar Venkatraman, Nishith Hegde and Varun Singh on guitars, and Biposhree Das on vocals, the six-piece outfit surely would bring the essence of old-school metal to the night.
