UMG promotes Laurent Hulin as VP - emerging markets

MUMBAI: Universal Music Group has promoted Laurent Hulin as vice-president of emerging markets. The announcement was made by UMG global head of new business Olivier Robert Murphy.

In his new role, Hulin will be responsible of developing and enacting strategies to expand UMG’s business in emerging markets and working closely with its new business teams worldwide.

Murphy said, “The new music landscape in all emerging markets has seen a surge in high-quality content powering the uptake of services, products, access and devices with major brands relying ever more heavily on music to drive their offerings. In his new role, Hulin will continue his focus on partnering with companies to structure ground-breaking initiatives and to create innovative and sustainable new business models.”

Prior to this appointment, Hulin was VP of business development in the company for the past two years.

Hulin said, “Emerging markets represent the largest growth opportunity for Universal Music with aggressive financial targets for the next few years. My main priority will be to support and assist all our subsidiaries to achieve their plans and develop a sustainable and innovative music business. I am looking forward to starting this new, exciting role.”

Hulin has over 15 years experience in marketing, management and business development in the internet, mobile and entertainment industries. He joined Universal Music in 2005, and has delivered a number of important strategic marketing partnerships with consumer brands in India, Portugal and Sweden amongst other countries.
