MUMBAI: Even as Duncun Rufus is working to complete their second album ‘The Folds Galore’, they have their debut album ‘Carte Blanche’ hitting the shelves. Duncun Rufus’s Carte Blanche was launched digitally in 2011 in Scandinavian countries but now it is released physically in India by Times Music.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, lead vocalist Lima Yanger says, “We had launched it under a Norwegian label CCAP and was also released internationally in Scandinavian countries. Now, Times Music brought the rights to sell it in India and now we are having it on the shelves here.”

This is a 10 track album which features efforts of five musicians- Lima Yanger (vocals), Hitesh Dhutia (guitars) , Vinay Lobo (guitars) , JD (bass)  and Gaute Johannesen  (drums). They are also part of various other bands. Their music is a mix of crisp contemporary pop-folk rock songs with foot tapping beats and catchy hook lines.

One track titled Mary also has a video. “There are two sides for this track. I wrote it for some other reason and when JD (bassist) read it, he read it for completely different reason and he immediately said it this is a tribute to Mary Kom; it was during the Olympics times. But we were aware of her five world championships she won so we decided to give her a tribute with the track,” Yanger adds. The two video for the album are complete and they have plans to work on one more.

Naming a band after a street Duncun Yanger lived in and his first dog Rufus (Duncun Rufus), Yanger believes, “Music is a different for everyone, and probably people who enjoy my music identify what they like musically. The songs are honest that I have written through my experience. Through the songs we are not trying to sound like someone or trying to do something different but stay honest and genuine.”

On 12 April evening, Duncun Rufus will perform their album and six-seven tracks of the new album ‘The Folds Galore’ at Blue Frog.  “Song writing is complete of the second album and recording is left,” he adds.
