Kurt Cobain's legacy may be preserved through Broadway musical

MUMBAI: It has been 20 years since the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. And now, in an attempt to preserve his legacy, Cobain's widow- Courtney Love is hoping to create a Broadway musical on the troubled singer's life. According to reports, if Love has her way, there might even be a documentary and biopic based on the punk icon.

Love, in a recent interview, said that she was considering a musical devoted to the "Come As You Are" singer. However, it would only happen if she got the "greatest and most respected" writers, directors and producers on board. The pop singer revealed that the idea came about after she and Frances Bean (Love and Cobain's 21 year old daughter), received tons of Nirvana fan mail asking for the musical to be turned into a reality.

"There would have to be a story, and a great story, one that hasn't been told before. I would devote countless hours with an A-team to create a project that reflects Kurt in the most respectful but honest way possible, so that his story, his music and his legacy can be resurrected on stage for not only the world to see, but more importantly for our daughter to see. I know her father's spirit will be on that stage, and sitting in that theater with her will be the most emotional experience of our lives," Love said.

However, what that story will be is left to be seen, considering the number of biographies that have already been penned since Cobain's death.

10 April will see the induction of Nirvana into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for which Love and her daughter will be present. Also attending the event will be the band's two surviving members Krist Novoselic and David Grohl, who has had several feuds with Love in the past.
