Dhoom 3 Malang inspires and Jai Ho is favourite: Sameer Anjaan

MUMBAI: Lyricist Sameer Anjaan, who has been associated with many composers, started off his career from the early 80s and has worked with names like Nadeem-Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Uttam Singh, Jatin Lalit and others. Presently, he pens lyrics for names like Sajid-Wajid, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and Pritam to name a few. This lyricist wishes that he could also write for budding music composers and one composer he wants to work with is Amit Trivedi.

In a candid conversation with Radioandmusic.com, Anjaan recalled his experience writing lyrics for Dhoom 3's ‘Malang'. Anjaan says, "The recent track Dhoom 3 is my favourite track and I believe that I have done very good work for it. The track is so smooth and the canvas given to the track makes me proud to have written it. That song inspires me and it is my favourite track." The Malang video was created by spending a massive sum of Rs 5 crore. The dancers were put up in Mumbai for 20 days for training. This includes the fees of the professionals hired, logistics involved for the same, costumes, elaborate sets and other miscellaneous costs.

He also goes on to state that his track in Jai Ho ‘Tere Naina' is something that he enjoyed a lot. "I write romantic tracks and I have written something like this in the past. Romantic tracks are associated with my name. It was a challenge for me to write this track as in past I had written a track like ‘Tore naina bade dagabaaz' for Sajid-Wajid. Writing the track on the same line was a really big challenge," Anjaan says. Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal gave the vocals for the track, which was unveiled on Youtube on 25 December. He adds, "Sajid-Wajid has composed the track very well and Salman Khan carried the track with an ease. This track is also my favourite."

When asked which music composer he would like to work with in the future, he said it would be "Amit Trivedi". "There are a few young composers that I have not worked with. I would like to work with them, especially Amit Trivedi. His work has been really appreciated," Anjaan affirms.

Anjaan also states the competition present in the music industry. "For budding writers it is essential to give their dedication to their work to become a successful writers and it is the hard work that will keep them going."
