Nazia Hassan remembered on birth anniversary

NEW DELHI: Pakistani crooner Nazia Hassan, who became a sensation in India with her ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ number for ‘Qurbaani’, was remembered at a condolence meeting in Karachi yesterday. Hassan was born on 3 April 1965, and became Pakistan’s most famous celebrity in the 70s and the 80s. She came into limelight with the PTV’s program ‘Sung Sung’. Her music led to a redefinition of pop music in the country and Pakistan’s contemporary music scene owes a huge debt to the talented singer.

Pakistani band Jal unveils third album 'Pyaas'

MUMBAI: Pakistani Pop-rock band Jal has launched its third studio album ‘Pyaas’. The band had launched their last album ‘Boondh’ in 2007. The album released under Universal Music comprises of 12 original tracks. All India Radio lacks reach

NEW DELHI: More than 65 years after independence and 15 years after Prasar Bharati came into being, All India Radio (AIR) now claims that just 0.8 per cent of the population is still uncovered by AM or FM Radio channels. AIR sources claimed to Radioandmusic.com that a total of 91.9 per cent of the area and 99.2 per cent of the population are presently being reached by the public broadcaster.

EC allots time for Karnataka poll broadcasts on All India Radio

NEW DELHI: All India Radio and Doordarshan, which provide a platform for political parties to make poll broadcasts before every election, will also organize a maximum of two panel discussions and/or debates on the Kendras/Stations for the forthcoming elections to the state assembly of Karnataka. Each eligible party can nominate one representative to such a programme, but the Election Commission of India will approve the names of coordinators for such panel discussions and debates in consultation with the Prasar Bharati Corporation.
