Udayswar@Prithvi by Pancham Nishad presents vocalist Bharathi Prathap

MUMBAI: Udayswar@Prithvi is a rare and truly unique acoustic experience of Indian Classical Music to be enjoyed in its pure form, in the manner it was originally designed, for an intimate Baithak. It no microphones, no amplification environment is an experience for life.

Morning concerts have a charm which is unique. If one is lucky, one gets a chance to hear the most meditative and contemplative ragas in the most ineffable settings. Growing interest and enthusiasm amongst audiences of all ages to attend morning concerts led Pancham Nishad and Prithvi Theatre both active in promoting and developing the performing arts to come together to present Udayswar@Prithvi exclusively by Bank of Baroda, a concert of morning ragas of the second prahar.  Held on every third Sunday of the month this concert series features various vocal and instrumental artistes.

On 20 May, vocalist Bharathi Prathap will be seen performing at Prithvi Theatre, 7.30 am. Bengaluru based vocalist Bharathi Prathap was initiated into Carnatic music in her childhood. She later moved on to Hindustani Classical singing at the behest of her uncle. She trained with Late Pandit Marutrao Inamdar and Late Pandit Rama Rao Naik before she met Vidushi Lalit Rao, renowned exponent of the Agra-Atrauli gharana.

“It is indeed a great honour and a rare privilege to perform for Udayswar@Prithvi at the prestigious Prithvi Theatre. Early morning concerts have a charm and I have always enjoyed live music in the early hours of the day both as a listener and a performer. This concert has the added attraction of “no sound system” and therefore I’m very eager and curious to experience music in that beautiful ambience, for a receptive audience without amplification. I profusely thank the organisers for this wonderful opportunity. Truly a dream comes true! I feel blessed,” Bharathi Prathap.

The intimacy and excellent acoustics of Prithvi Theatre offers an unadulterated exchange of music between the artiste and the audience making it a refreshing and rejuvenating experience unlike any other in today's age of microphones and amplification.
