Pakistani band Jal unveils third album 'Pyaas'

MUMBAI: Pakistani Pop-rock band Jal has launched its third studio album ‘Pyaas’. The band had launched their last album ‘Boondh’ in 2007. The album released under Universal Music comprises of 12 original tracks. Front man of the band Goher Mumtaz said, “We are aware that our fans have waited for almost six years for this new album and thus it was important that we come back with an album that’s been worth the wait.”

Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber to perform at Billboard Music Awards

MUMBAI: Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Prince, Bruno Mars and Miguel will perform at Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on 19 May. Billboard announced those acts that are finalists for the milestone award, a new honour presented to an act who has achieved a landmark on the Billboard charts in the last year. Prince will be awarded the Billboard Icon Award, highlighting his history of groundbreaking accomplishments in the music industry.

All India Radio lacks reach

NEW DELHI: More than 65 years after independence and 15 years after Prasar Bharati came into being, All India Radio (AIR) now claims that just 0.8 per cent of the population is still uncovered by AM or FM Radio channels. AIR sources claimed to Radioandmusic.com that a total of 91.9 per cent of the area and 99.2 per cent of the population are presently being reached by the public broadcaster.

EC allots time for Karnataka poll broadcasts on All India Radio

NEW DELHI: All India Radio and Doordarshan, which provide a platform for political parties to make poll broadcasts before every election, will also organize a maximum of two panel discussions and/or debates on the Kendras/Stations for the forthcoming elections to the state assembly of Karnataka. Each eligible party can nominate one representative to such a programme, but the Election Commission of India will approve the names of coordinators for such panel discussions and debates in consultation with the Prasar Bharati Corporation.

BBM Music to shut down on 2 June

MUMBAI: BlackBerry has announced that its BBM music service will shut down with effect from 2 June, and current customers can listen to music from the third-party music service Rdio for 30 days for free. The announcement was made via an email sent to subscribers today: “BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013*. For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available.
