Brian Northcott, who comes to Mumbai, courtesy the Trinity College, London, has studied conducting under Sir Adrian Boult, among others, and conducts music of all eras. He has worked extensively upon invitation with youth choirs, orchestras and choral societies. He is engaged in freelance conducting, music advisory services and as an examiner for Trinity/Guildhall, which first brought him to Mumbai last November at the tragic time of the terrorist attacks on the city. Northcott is currently conductor of the Exmouth Choral Society, musical director of the Exeter Symphony Orchestra and founder/director of the early music group Westbarok based in the southwest of England. His most recent concert, conducting the Exeter Symphony Orchestra, was dedicated to the victims of the terror attacks in Mumbai.

The programme will feature Soundarie David on solo piano in a performance of Grieg`s well loved piano concerto. Soundarie completed her musical education at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, where she was awarded the Associate of the Royal College of Music in piano performance and piano accompaniment. While at the College she participated in the prestigious Piano Platform series, where she could also accompany various instrumentalists and vocalists, and collaborate at various venues including the Royal Festival Hall. As a soloist, she has performed both locally and internationally and was awarded the SAARC Women of Achievement Award, the Zonta Women of Achievement for Performing Arts and the Rotary World Peace Scholarship for the years 2007-2009.

Dushyanthi Perera will perform popular cello solos by Faure and Popper. Dushyanthi studied the cello with Alexander Bailey in the UK before returning to her native Sri Lanka. She is principal cellist of the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka and has established herself as a soloist. She also has a passion for chamber music and is a member of the renowned Colombo Trio. As a dedicated teacher, she has devoted much of her time to training string ensembles in chamber music settings.

The programme will also include works by Handel, Britten and Elgar.
