NCPA Umang Series - Kuchipudi Recital by Sandhya Raju.

Sandhya Raju has trained under the renowned Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam in Chennai as well as Kishore Mosalikanti. Guru Vempati is well known as a path-breaking choreographer and teacher of the Kuchipudi style. Sandhya has had the privilege of training directly under him through her foundational years. Her later dance training was under Mosalikanti, an outstanding young choreographer and teacher of the style. During her intensive training with Guru Vempati, she also toured USA as the principal dancer in his dance drama Gopika Krishna. Currently, she is one of the principal members of Mosalikanti's Kuchipudi ensemble.

Her programme will give a glance into various aspects of Kuchipudi - both its lilting rhythmic aspects and the dramatic expressional features. She infuses a high level of aesthetics into her dance, and equally so to the quality of music and costumes. Her performance is beyond the dancer and about the total experience presented to an audience.
