HAM-TECH 2008, International Expo & Conference

We are pleased to inform you that the HAM-TECH 2008, International Expo & Conference being held at National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR) coinciding with its Silver Jubilee Celebrations during 18-20, October 2008 at Hyderabad. A brochure giving details is enclosed.

The National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR), Hyderabad is the brain child of late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi VU2RG who was also a radio amateur (HAM). The institute founder Mr. S. Suri, VU2MY is pioneer and was sent on a global tour for 2 months by Smt. Indira Gandhi the then Prime Minister also as Minister of Electronics and based on the study tour recommendations the institute was established at Hyderabad in the same year with the support of Government of India and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. Today, it is rated as the world class institution in this field of activity praised as such by none other than our Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh and many others. This institute has well developed infrastructure at spacious and green environment on the Raj Bhavan Road and its activities are recognized not only in India, but all over the world.
The services rendered by the institute all over the country and more particularly in Andhra Pradesh include many facets of Amateur Radio like Disaster Management, Empowerment of Skills to youth, generating self employment, advocacy to launch Amateur Radio satellites by ISRO provided  Human resource to many agencies and promoted Tourism etc., to name a few. Several ministries and departments of India has been  supporting NIAR including Ministry of Communications & IT, Defence, Home, HRD, External Affairs and others in conducting programs by NIAR in different parts of the country including A & N Islands, Lakshadweep Islands  and Tamilnadu etc.,

Several Amateur Radio communication experts (HAMs) from India and abroad have already committed to participate in this event. The program is specially designed to provide unique opportunity for non-ham participants to explore amateur (Ham) radio through this major Ham-Tech Expo & Conference events. It also provides an opportunity to interact with several international and national experts, which is rare in our country.

In view of the successful completion of 25 years of service to society, NIAR plans to conduct its Silver Jubilee celebrations at its Headquarters in Raj Bhavan Road, Hyderabad in a befitting manner during October 18-20, 2008. Amateur Radio (Ham) delegates from all over India and from several countries abroad are participating in this event. The Expo is a major and unique event.
