Veena Malik to release series of singles

MUMBAI: Pakistan starlet Veena Malik is all set to release series of singles in lieu of a full fledged album, as she extends her professional resume to include singing.

Her first single, titled 'Drama Queen' (ArtistAloud.com) is set to be digitally launched on 1 October. The club track will be supported by a video and DVD launch.

"We are promoting the first single using OOH (out of home) medium in Delhi and Mumbai. Artist Aloud is also running its own campaign using the digital medium," Malik told Radioandmusic.com.

'Drama Queen' will be followed by two singles before 2012-end. The next single in line is 'Rum' another dance track that Malik says will not disappoint her fans.

"The age of releasing albums is gone. It's a series of singles for me that might be compiled (later) as an album. But I am in no hurry to release songs as I don't want to compromise on quality. Even Drama Queen was recorded in Dubai last year," Malik said.

She also said that though she was new to the recording field, she had contributed in the creative process.

"I came up with the basic concept of what the songs would be about. The songs have been composed by IshQ Bector and Shreedee with Siddharth Banerjee writing the lyrics. Giving the look of the video was also my contribution," she said.

Though she wants her song(s) to do well, Malik denies resorting to controversy and shock tactics to promote herself. A recent release has stated that her video for 'Drama Queen' has her kissing her female co-stars and promoting lesbianism.

"I basically support causes like Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) causes. My video will have me dancing with four foreign girls. I felt this would be more glamorous and beautiful instead of dancing with male dancers. There is nothing wrong in this," Malik said.
