T-Series averages first half; expects to hit bull's eye in second half

MUMBAI: T-Series has released a clutch of 10 Hindi film music albums in the first half of the year.

While some have done extremely well, others have just managed an average play. The list of films comprise Krazzy 4, Ghatotkach, Dashavataram, Woodstock Villa, Hastey Hastey, Haal-e-dil, De Taali, Jaane Tu Ya Jaaane Na, Bhootnath and Mere Baap Pehle Aap.

Of the lot, Krazzy 4 gave a good return on investment to the company. "The USP of Krazzy 4 were the Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Rakhi Sawant songs. Hence, the first week collections itself were great," says T-Series President - marketing media publishing Vinod Bhanushali. Apart from this, the recently released Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is spelling success for the music label in the initial rounds too.According to Bhanushali, Krazzy 4 bought in additional revenues through radio, digital downloads, although he is cagey about revealing figures.

The other films too did average business. Bhanushali says that they did more than just the recovery of the invested cost. "The reason is that our avenues of monetising content is good. There is publishing, radio deals, overall reach to retail stores. Where a music label will reach out to 30 stores, we stretch to a 100," claims Bhanushali. Besides that, T-Series campaigns and promotions too bring in fair sales.

T-Series has now lined up nearly six big-ticket launches - Ghajjini, Yuvraaj, Chandni Chowk to China, Karzzz and God Tussi Great Ho. Apart from film albums, T-series will also launch Sukhbir and Tulsi Kumar's albums in the following two months.
