Sony's Bollywood Singstar sells 5000 units

MUMBAI:Sony Playstation's Bollywood Singstar, launched in November last year, has sold nearly 5000 units since launch.

Sony, which brought in the hugely popular Singstar game to India has tied up with Sony BMG for content. The playlist currently comprises 30 popular songs. The Bollywood Singstar unit, priced at Rs 1500, also allows buyers to go in for additional bouquet of songs for Rs 500.

Sony states that the game was created preempting the immense potential of the Bollywood franchise, not just in India but across the world.

A change from traditional games, the Singstar Bollywood range offers a range of music. With microphones in hand, users can perform to the tunes of their favorite artists, singing their favourite solos and duets.

Sony's Playstation, Country Manager Atindrya Bose says, "The huge response of the outside world to Singstar, encouraged us to bring it in India. We understand that everyone in our country is interested in singing and we just gave them what was required."

The game is different from the earlier existing games which are based on simulation. "Whatever games that exist in the market give more opportunity to the males. The Singstar game is for everyone," he adds, "You try mastering your talent by more and more practicing to become perfect."

SingStar is a game for PS2 and PS3 that lets you sing to your favourite artists along with their actual videos. The game scores you on how good (or bad!) you are, either singing on your own or with friends.
